Mom Comes West
After my vacation in Wisconsin, my mom decided to fly to San Francisco and
spend the weekend with me. She hadn't been here since I came out to look for
an apartment last April.

We drove north of the city, and up to the Russian River valley. We followed
the river to where it empties into the Pacific at a small town called Jenner. The
coast north of there is beautiful... big cliffs heading into the ocean, great vistas
of the coast, and nice county and state parks with good camping and hiking.

This picture was taken at Stillwater Cove Regional Park.

It's a nice little park with a pretty inlet with tidepools to poke around in, and a
nice hike through a small redwood grove.

An artsy shot using the macro feature on my camera.

More of the same.

There were a couple of seals laying out on the rocks in the cove. I did some
covert scurrying over the rocks, and snuck a picture of them.

We also saw a giant banana slug. They never cease to amaze me.

More slug.

My camera's macro feature is much better than I expected it to be, although
it lost a little depth here.

Purty.

On our hike in the woods we saw tons of triliums, not all of them out of focus
like this one.
