Resident Retreat #3: The Reckoning

OK, here we are in Sept of 2006 at my 3rd (and last) residency retreat.
To relive all the highs and lows of last year's events, delve back into the
Cold Lampin' archives...

The retreat was once again held at the Marconi Center on the shores
of Tomales Bay. Here's some of the crew basking in the NorCal sun
(L->R Liza, Kat, Michelle, Isabelle, Anne, Kendall, and Mark.)

Heath helped tap the keg...

And Susie organized the First Annual Pediatric Resident Retreat
Sloshball game...

What is Sloshball you ask? Basically it's playing kickball with everybody
holding a full glass of beer.

Batter's have to grip a beer while kicking the ball...

...and baserunner's have to chug while running the basepaths.

Baby Aldo is not sure if he approves.

Most people tried to do the cup-in-the-mouth technique when fielding
the ball, which led to some pretty spectacular beercup explosions.

Sydney towels off after scoring a run...

...and by the end of the game, Buck could definitely have used a shower.

Despite masquerading as an athletic endeavor, the focus of Sloshball
is squarely upon the drinkin'... as Jim, Liza, and Frank demonstrate.

...and don't ever underestimate Carpenter and Corden's dedication
to true sportsmanship.

The ladies look on as feats of strength are performed on a regular
basis on the Sloshball field.

Betty and Cindy.

After 11 spirited innings, it was time to take the keg and move the party
inside for...

... the traditional wine tasting event (aka... getting loaded before dinner.)
Despite this being the third resident retreat wine tasting I've been too,
I still failed to discover what wine pairing goes best with beer.

New this year was residency bar trivia which was set up by Henry.

D-Bo, N-Diesel, and Natalie get acquainted.

Courtney and C-Buck get smiley.

Next up was dinner... (L->R Janelle, Shon, Betty, Gina, Liana, Erin, and Jeana.)

Bergen continues the wine "tasting."

It was only inevitable that after dinner the requisite dance party
marathon would break out...

This year the dance floor was particularly off the hook...

Fil and Geener upped the ante...

...as Buck and I Cold Lamped' an unsuspecting Betty.

There was a note-board at the front of the dance room which quickly
became a checklist/graffiti board for the evening. Here I look incredulous as Ralph
points out his victory in the race for "Hottest Senior." I can't believe he beat me so
soundly... 31-25.

I didn't even win the "Drunkest Senior" award...

I am proud of the number of people who were apparently able to fulfill
life-long dream by checking off the "Kiss Carl" box.

At some point in the evening, the annual class t-shirt was unveiled. This
tradition began last year with...

...Anu Narla's 4th Grade superstar shirt. This year's version used a picture
of me...

...covering my jubblies with dollar bills.

It's embarrasing how many times these have shown up in public since
then...

...but at last I finally got to make-out with someone I truly love.

At this point in the evening, the only things left to do are for Carpenter
to pee his pants (?!?!)...

...and Seth to break out the gut.(I am still astounded how this picture
is taken every year, and Buck is always ready with the flashlight.)

Mission accomplished.
